We passed court! We have two new precious children. A son and a daughter. A brother and a sister. We are thankful beyond measure that God has given us this gift. Knowing that we are not deserving of any of his blessings, He continues to pour them out and show us the great things only He can do.

We can’t post pictures until tomorrow (boooooo), but I’ll be sure to put up some pictures in the morning and I’ll post a little video too.

Thank you for your support and prayers! We are so grateful for everything!

Court!!!!!!

Our court date is sometime in the middle of the night tonight. Sometime while we sleep, God will place two new amazing children into our family. I would be lying if I didn’t say I wasn’t a teeny bit nervous. Kinda want to vomit. If everything goes well at court, I’ll post pictures tomorrow. You get to see their SWEET faces and know their names! We’ll all belong to each other! After tomorrow, I’m turning all of the adoption updates over to Brian. I will not be posting anymore, but we will not leave you out. I’m just no good at this and, frankly, not that interested in the whole world wide web. Not that it isn’t FASCINATING and downright convenient at times. I do LOVE catching up with friends this way, but I get antsy when I sit in front of the computer for longer than it takes me to check my email or buy a song off of ITUNES. Old fashioned I guess. Anyhoo…check my blog tomorrow. It’s the big day!!!!!

I want to buy our new children some books in their own language of Amharic. Does anyone reading this know where I can look? There may be a book store in Africa that I can find while we’re there, but I am trying to be on top of things. I would also like some books in both English and Amharic as well. Anyone?

My friend Kim saved my phone. Here’s her tip:

If your phone falls into water (or potty water in this case), take it apart and put the pieces into baggies of rice. The rice will absorb the water from the phone.

I followed her instructions and left the pieces in rice overnight and VOILA! The phone works!

Just a side note…Throw the rice away after it has been used to soak up toilet water.

Phone trouble

I dropped my phone in the toilet and now it’s dead. You’d think they could make expensive cell phones match the durability of cheap Timex watches—waterproof up to thirty feet.

Christians, Walk the Walk!

The election brought up some passions in people, as elections will do. One consistently passionate conversation is about abortion. It is no secret that I vote Democrat. I do not base my vote on this issue because, in my opinion, the government is not going to heal these hurting girls with the swipe of a pen. The Church MUST step up to make an impact. My mother-in-law is a perfect example of a Christian who has decided that politics is not the answer to abortion. She works at a crisis pregnancy center and councils young women who are pregnant. She is allowing God to use her to make a difference in His world. Now, I realize that we can not all work in crisis pregnancy centers, but we can help by supporting their ministries through our churches or individually. My sister-in-law has written a post on how we as Christians should treat this issue. Read about it here.

The Election

I didn’t realize that I would get so emotional, but I cried. I cried watching other people cry, and I cried through both McCain’s and Obama’s speeches. Regardless of politics, we watched our country change last night. What had always been a hope and a dream, became something that we have seen. We are privileged to be a part of this historic moment. I must admit that I am sorely ashamed of our country from time to time, but last night I was proud. Proud of the steps that we are taking as a people. Maya Angelou stated that we have decided not to identify ourselves as ignorant anymore. We’re watching our God pull apart the chains of racism that have been strangling our country. We are different now.

A new skill

Ten days ago we had an unfortunate incident at our neighborhood Cracker Barrel. Our waiter dropped some plates from our table and one of them hit my littlest and put a good slice in his leg. One free dinner and several napkins of blood later, we ended up in the emergency room where Nathaniel received stitches in his ankle. Today, I did something that I have never done as a mommy of four. I cut out his stitches at home. By myself! Not exactly surgery, but I removed stitches without hurting him. Thank you very much!
